2-19-26   THOUGHTS

Luke uses Isa 61:1-2, in our reading this morning.  The Spirit of God, working in Christ Jesus, came to publish Good News for us.  Eph 1:9-10 NIV   “And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,  10  to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfilment— to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”  Think spiritual, not physical.  Good News and Liberty are the words used.  Jesus ANCHORED it ALL when he said “TODAY... NOW... ME.. HERE!”  Nothing could ever be the same.

Luke 4:16-21   And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17  And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,  18  "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19  to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor." 20  And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of  all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21  And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

Our Prayer:
Thank You, O God, for Your remarkable favor toward us.  The mystery of Your  will in Christ Jesus is just awesome.  May we see this more clearly and powerfully and respond more diligently and intensely.  Boldly but humbly, may our love for You spill out to our  world.  In the name of the One who saves us...   Amen.
